How a lab gets marked One question, worked through
You tick what’s there. We do the arithmetic.
Each finished lab appears below with your student’s own answers beside the marking guide. You read the answer, tick the criteria you can see in it, and the total is worked out for you — you can set a different final mark if you disagree with it. Here is one real question from Lab K-3, marked.

Sample
Q4 · Why does the pH move slowly at first, jump near equivalence, then level off?
- ✓Early on: there is still a large excess of unreacted acid, so each addition changes little
- ✓Near equivalence: almost no unreacted acid is left, so one drop changes the pH a great deal
- ✓After equivalence: excess base now dominates and further additions change less and less
- ✓Connects the shape of the curve to what is actually in the flask at each stage
