Course Description
This laboratory course provides a structured, standards-aligned high school chemistry laboratory experience delivered through interactive computer simulations. Students complete 31 laboratory investigations covering the major units of a first-year high school chemistry curriculum.
Each laboratory includes: pre-lab reading, interactive simulation with data collection, structured analysis questions, and a written conclusion. Upon submission, the platform generates a print-ready PDF lab report that serves as the formal laboratory record for transcript documentation purposes.
Credit designation: This course constitutes the laboratory component of one academic year of high school chemistry. Total active laboratory time is logged automatically and is available for transcript documentation.
Standards Alignment
All labs align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and cover Science and Engineering Practices (SEP), Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCI), and Crosscutting Concepts (CCC). Several labs use the same investigation formats as AP Chemistry labs defined by the College Board. This is a standard first-year chemistry course โ it does not include AP exam preparation and does not confer AP credit.

Credit Hour Calculation
Each laboratory is designed for approximately 35โ50 minutes of active work. The platform logs active time using the Page Visibility API, ensuring idle time is excluded. Total credit hours are calculated from verified active time.
Recommended course weight: 0.5 credit (laboratory component of a full-year chemistry course). If using as a standalone lab-intensive course, 1.0 credit is appropriate when supplemented with a chemistry textbook curriculum.
